As far as I remember the anime starts excactly like the manga, but since it’s already a few years ago that I read the first volumes of the manga I’m not too sure about it… anyways.

At first you see a goddess and Kyoko tells in a soft voice how the goddess gives a small box to every new born baby, a pandora’s box that has many locks and can’t be opened alone…

Kyoko moved to Tokyo, together with her childhood friend and crush Shotaro. It’s her dream to see Sho fulfill his dream: Becoming a super famous singer.
She works hard to pay the rent for the apartment she rented for him and herself, where he hardly spends time anymore, now that he’s starting to become famous. But she is just happy he is successful and bears it all. So from her one job she storms off to her second at Darumaya’s (with a short stop at the cd shop where she bought his new cd but OH NOES! She didn’t get a promo poster!!).

At her second job she has a talk with the owner’s wife about how she is unlike other girls not interested in make up and clothes, which is only because she uses all her money to support Sho. On her way home she recalls memories from her childhood where her dream was to become a princess and find a prince to truly become happy.

When she arrives at home, totally exhausted, she notices the lights are on, she rushes upstairs and really, her prince is home! But since she is extremely late he’s about to go again, he just needed some of his clothes, but Kyoko, the smart girl, knows how to keep him by her side for a little while longer. As Sho munches his pudding happily they start watching TV and the show they see has his arch rival Tsuruga Ren as a speciaal guest. He gets extremely pissed off as the show shows a chart of the sexiest famous guys and Ren is on first place while Sho is only 7th! He yells at Kyoko who tries to calm him and rushes off.. tse.
On the next day, Kyoko gives him a call, telling him on his mailbox that he’s always the number one for him. Since she doesn’t have to work at Darumaya’s that day she decides to visit Sho at his work and bring some food along for him. Luckily she’s able to get inside and searches for him, when she suddenly overhears him talking to his manager.
He tells her about Kyoko’s message and how annoyed he is by it. That he only asked her to come with him to Tokyo because his parents wanted to marry him off to her and make him inherit the family business, so he took her along for convenience, since she paid his rent and made him food and all, but she’s really just boring and annoying to him.

At that moment Kyoko snaps (or rather, her Pandora’s box gets opened by a chibi devil Sho :3) and she throws the food she brought at Sho (who sadly evades the attack, boo :/), Sho asks her not to cry, since it’s annoying, but instead she bursts into insane laughter and swears to get revenge on him. Sho smiles at her arrogantly, telling her she has no chance of getting near him since he is famous now, so, there’s only one way for Kyoko to go: she needs to become famous herself to crush him! <333

So first of all she moves out from the way too expensive apartment, she sells all the stuff she bought and invests the money to improve her looks. Now she’s all ready to get her revenge plan started!
